The Philips Heartstart FRx defibrillator does not require seperate paediatric electrodes to defibrillate a child. Instead, when defibrillating a child this unique Infant/Child Key is inserted into the defibrillator. The defibrillator detects the presence of the key and automatically reduces the shock power and adjusts its voice instructions appropriately. Because the Infant/Child key can be re-used and has no expiry date, the cost of ownership is reduced in comparison to a defibrillator that uses seperate paediatric electrodes.
The Infant/Child Key is for use with children weighing less than 25kg. Compatible only with the Philips Heartstart FRx.
