SAM splint is a lightweight and versatile splinting material that can be cut, folded and shaped in a multitude of ways to immobilize virtually any suspected fracture. They are transparent to X-Rays, so can be left in place until the injury has been properly assessed. SAM splints are made from an aluminium sheet enclosed in foam and can be cut with normal first aid shears.
